Working with Standards in the Advanced Template

Previous Topic   |   Next Topic   |  Return to Contents

Standards are easy to browse through and select using the advanced template. Start by opening Stage 1, then opening the State Standards section. Click the "+Add/Edit" button to begin working with your state standards.

In the pop-up window that appears, you'll first need to choose a Standards document to work with. The documents are listed by subject and the year the document was officially adopted. In the drop-down list of Standards documents, select the document you want to work with and click "Choose."

Next, you will be presented with categories of standards to choose from. There may be several pages of categories to click through before you reach a selectable standard, depending on how many layers of choices are in the Standards document. As you drill down through the choices and sub-choices, you can move back up the "Standard tree" by clicking the blue links above the selections.

Standards Pop-Up

When you come to selections that are preceded by check boxes, check off the ones that you wish to select as goals of your unit. We recommend only checking Standards that you intend to address in all 3 Stages to ensure that Standards are fully and properly addressed and to make the Reports useful. If you check any of the boxes, click the "Add Checked /Remove Un-Checked" button to save your choices.

After saving your choices, you can go right back to where you were at in the Standards document, start back at the top of the document, or choose a new document (standards from a different subject or year) to work with.

Repeat this process until you have identified all the standards you'll be addressing in this unit.
