Designers: Creating Reusable Essential Questions and Understandings

Next Topic   |  Return to Contents

Administrators or supervisors may have created a set of overarching questions and understandings for use within unit. However, some designers may have or want to create their own questions and understandings which are repeated across many units. In this case, it's a good idea to create reusable versions of the questions and understandings, rather than to type them into each unit.

To create a personal reusable question or understanding, find the heading "My Account" on the home page of Curriculum Framer. Choose the desired link (to create either questions or understandings).

After clicking the link, you will be presented with a list of reusable elements you have already created (if any). To add a new element, type it into the text box at the top of the list and click the ADD button. The new element will appear in the list, and can be accessed from the lists of overarching stage 1 elements in the advanced template.

Note: be sure to keep the questions and understandings separated in their appropriate lists to ensure that the option for including them occurs where you need it to in the Template.

Update: You can also create these elements "on the fly" from the advanced unit template. For example, click on the "Add New" link for essential questions, then choose "Overarching" from the pop-up menu. You'll see this interface:

As you can see, the overarching essential questions pop-up contains a tab for creating brand new overarching questions.
